The final round of 2018 was the first Southern 32 visit to the new Luton track.  We also made arrangements for 2019.

Thanks to everybody for an excellent day’s racing, particularly Nick and Marc on race control.  The track was a little unusual in having no bridge, which of course meant we had no track calls for cars under the bridge!
Will Stemman produced the two fastest qualifying runs of the day taking top spot with 25.66. Stan Alton was second, scoring the only other  25 lap qualifying run.  Top Falcon and a remarkable 4
th overall was Geoff Lynn, he was very impressed with the Genesis borrowed from Stan!

The finals were all 3 minute runs.  Today we ran the overall finals first.   Greg Harwood showed what might have been in qualifying with 25 laps to win the B final.   Will Stemman won the A final from Stan, Dave Stevenson and Geoff in 4th winning Falcon Masters.  Most of the top championship positions were already settled, with Will, Ian Barker and Vince Lee take the top 3 spots, but today’s result moved Dave Stevenson up to 4th overall.

Clubman Finals

Alan Clark won the B final from John Chance Read, Ali Dent and Julia.  From a championship point of view that win was very significant, as it meant Alan won the championship from Ali who had been leading for most of the season.

The A final produced the closest race of the day with Marc Lyons winning from Geoff Lynn - the photo shows how close they were.  Josh Bryant had a good run to third ahead of Dick Stevenson.

Clubman A final - this is how Marc and Geoff finished

The team race featured 10 teams, unusually 4 of them running in the Falcon class.  The top group 12 powered teams were all quite close,  Paul Harwood and Marc Lyons  ran out winners with Keith Gibson and Greg Harwood less than 5 laps behind. Will Stemman and Josh Bryant took third ahead of the series champions VIP.  Geoff Lynn and Ian Fisher took the Falcon honours ahead of series Falcon champions Simon Francis and Chris Frost.
