18 Feb Netley

Round 2 of the championship was held at Netley. A very good day’s racing was had by all, thanks to Dick,, Alan and Mark for the very efficient race control.

Qualifying was close, Will Stemman emerging top on 25.93 and Simon Francis top Falcon on 24.88.

Ali Dent won the clubman final from Alan Clark making making his Southern 32 debut.

And so to the Super Prod / Masters finals.  Mac Miles won the D, surely setting a record as the oldest Southern 32 competitor yet!

Ali Dent won the C final having a better run than he’d archived in qualifying.

Vince Lee was the only B finalist to top 25 laps in qualifying and duly won.  Simon Francis won Falcon Masters, interestingly it was a 1-2 for Hawk Retos in this class.

Ian Barker won the A final from Dick Smith, with Dave Stevenson third.   Top qualifier Will retired with controller trouble.

Le Mans 32

Seven teams ran in the team race.   Initially Eces took the lead from Netley and VIP, but by half distance the home team had a 6 lap lead from VIP.   Netley maintained that margin to win.  A pit stop for new gears did no good to Eces’ hopes, the first round winning team eventually recovered to 4th behind Luton.  That left Eces, VIP and Luton covered by 1 point in the championship.    GT was the only team so far to run in the Falcon/Hawk sub class, they took 5th with a Hawk Retro power.  The 3 man AlMacAl team had a series of problems,  but for the brief period when the car was running properly Ali set the fastest lap of the race at 6.342 seconds, the top two teams didn’t get under 6.39.

The next round it at Millstream on 18 March.   Please remember they require a minimum of 0.5mm rear ground clearance.  Look forward to seeing you there.
