3 November  Netley

The penultimate round of the 2019 season was at Netley.  Thanks to all at the Netley club for an excellent day’s racing, the efficient race control ensured an early finish.

Final round at Corby

We look forward to seeing you at the final round on the Nats track at Corby on Sunday 15th December. There will be a team race for Falcon/Hawk powered 1/24 Production saloon on the Saturday 14th - all welcome!

2020 Southern 32

Time to think about your club’s 2020 Southern 32 round. The list of available dates is on the BSCRA calendar . If your club is willing to host a round, please tell Chris Frost at or before the December 2019 round at Corby.   Please consult your club’s calendar and offer a choice of dates. We’ll do our best to accommodate the preferred dates but obviously there’s no guarantee we  can please everybody.

Racing

Will Stemman was the fastest qualifier with 27.21, with Brian Saunders Hawk R powered car second overall on 26.19.

Finals

The finals commenced with the 3 man D won by Alan Clark.
Steve Kearey won the C final by over a lap, second place being decided in Ali Dent’s favour at the final corner.
Stan Alton won the B final from Nick Thrower.
In the A final, Will Stemman and Brian Saunders swapped the lead throughout.  Although Will’s Super Wasp powered car was lapping very slightly faster than Brian’s Hawk powered car, Brian was staying on better.  Eventually Will won by a few feet.   Dick Smith took 3
rd (and second in Falcon Masters) with his Genesis.

Will was already 2019 champion with 6 wins, this 7th win was his “worst result” that didn’t add to his perfect championship score.
The Falcon/Hawk Masters championhip is still open with current championship leaders Graham and Simon tied on points, and Brian well placed to overtake them at the final round.

Clubman

There were just 4 Clubman runners at this round.  Mac Miles had much his best run of the day to win from Ali Dent.   Mac, age 87,  must surely have set a record for the oldest Southern 32 winner ever!

Le Mans 32

Young Man were quickest in the one hour team race - so fast in fact that Will set set several laps under the counter’s default time.  Will and Josh won by some 22 laps from Luton with “How Hard Can It Be” 10 laps back in 3rd.   That 10 lap gap was the closest in the field, all the other places being separated by 20+ laps.

Congratulations to Young Man - their fourth win of the season means they are 2019 champions with a round to spare.
