Southern 32 - 2019

The series for you!

  Timaru   8  September

Just 12 drivers (6 home members and 6 visitors) pitched up at Timaru for the east Kent round of this year’s S32 Championship in what is Timaru’s Diamond Jubilee year, the club having been formed in 1959.

Paul Harwood tq’d for the overall final by just a few 100ths from Dave Stevenson, Graham Sampson and Greg Harwood.

Paul duly led from start to finish with Dave second, Graham third (and Falcon Masters winner) and Greg in fourth.

Mark Harwood won the B final from Ian Barker by less than half a lap, and he was followed by the Falcon cars of home members Mark Ellis and Bill Jenner.

Andy Bishop won the C final while Geoff Halvorsen was second just 100th of a lap in front of club mate Bob Mortimer and Cliff Bicknell in fourth.

Graham Sampson won the Falcon A final from club mates Andy B, Mark E and Bill.

Bob Mortimer took the Falcon B final win from Geoff and Cliff.

There were 7 teams for the hour long Le Mans event, 3 Falcon powered and 4 Gp12 powered.

Dave Harvey ran on his own and won on the road recording the 2 fastest segments of the day.  VIP (Ian B and Dave Stevenson) finished second but took first place championship points.  GTech were third on the road but Mudplugger (Geoff and Mark E) took third place points because of the 2 premier driver rule and were also first Falcon car home.

The next 3 teams finished just 8 laps apart, Norfolk and Chance in front of UFO by 5 laps who in turn were 3 laps up on Harwood racing whose very quick Gp12 car  suffered early chassis damage.

Thanks to all for coming and helping out with the marshalling (even when it wasn’t your turn) which meant a good 3.30 finish.

Our thanks also to Crampton Tower Museum for the use of the main hall for pit space
Thanks to Bob Mortimer and Dick Stevenson for the photos
