19 May    Roedale

Round four was another south coast round- this time we were in Brighton at the Roedale club.  Thanks to Chris, Ian and all at Roedale for a great days’s racing.  Ian King’s very efficient race control achieved an early finish.  It was good to see Ian Barker back racing after his op.

In qualifying Will Stemman took top spot with 48.07 ... and if that wasn’t enough put in another 48 lap run.   Dave Stevenson was second on 47.   Simon Francis produced a 44 to take top spot in Falcon Masters, and qualify for the A final.   Graham Sampson’s 42 put him comfortable top of the clubman Falcon runners.

CLUBMAN FINALS

Dick Stevenson won the B final by a lap from Alan Clark.

Graham Sampson won the A final by over 3 laps, and having won all 4 rounds so far has a commanding championship lead.  Colin Wilkinson had a good run on his first visit to the track to take second ahead of Bill Jenner.

Le Mans 32

Ben Tapp and Jody Symons joined in for the team race as Team Dean.   They set 3 of the 4 fastest segments and unlike the other group 12 runners their car ran trouble free throughout.   They won by over 70 laps, by far the largest winning margin I can remember.   VIP and Young Man both had some time in the pits.  Will’s one interrupted run was the fastest time of the day.

Dave and Dick won the Falcon powered class some 29 laps, while just 6 laps separated UFO, GT and Norfolk... for 5-6-7.

Next Round

It’s 4 weeks till the next round at Coulsdon on 16 June.  Look forward to seeing you there.

The winning Team Dean car

The overall finals started with the D final which was won by Alan Clark.   Colin Wilkinson had another good run to win the C final.  Josh Bryant won the B final by half a lap from Graham Sampson.

Will Stemman won the A final by 2 laps from Ian Barker.  Simon Francis took 3rd overall and top spot in Falcon Masters.   A pile up early in the race left Dave Stevenson a long way back after a pit stop for a new gear.
