14  July   Luton

The 6th round of the championship was at Luton.  Thanks to Nick and everybody at Luton for a  very enjoyable and well run day’s racing.

Will Stemman took top Qualifying with 26.29, over half a lap quicker than his TQ score for last year’s  first Southern 32 on this track. Second was Paul Harwood with a Falcon, although as he’s a premier grade driver Paul isn’t eligible for Falcon Masters points. Chris Stemman’s impressive 25 lap run put him in the top 4 and top in both Clubman and Falcon Masters.

The overall finals were run before the clubman finals.   Andy Bishop won the E final.  There were lots of changes of lead in the D final, the eventual winner was Dave Hackforth.   The first 3 finals were all Falcons, including C final winner Keith Gibson who is in premier grade thanks to his 2018 main grade Nationals win.

The B final was another race with  lots of lead changes, Greg Harwood turned out the winner.

Will won the A final with another 26 lap run, Stan Alton beat Paul Harwood for second, while Chris Stemman took 4
th and the Falcon Masters win.

(1)    Top Gun ran two premier grade drivers so don’t score championship points

(2)    Wreckless were running a Hawk 7 motor, so are eligible for overall championship points but not eligible for points in the Falcon/ Hawk R sub class

Clubman Finals

With 9 clubman drivers, the unlucky 9th qualifier didn’t get a run in the finals.  Colin Wilkinson won the B final from Dave Hackforth.

The A final started out with more than its share of crashes, but once it all settled down, Chris  Stemman took a not unexpected win ahead of Marc Lyons, Geoff Lynnn and Mike Gibbons.

Le Mans 32

The team race produced a win for championship leaders Young Man - Will Stemman and Josh Bryant, by some 16 laps from Luton.    Top Gun finished just ahead of Harwood Racing, although Paul and Marc took third place points because of teh two premier drivers rule.   Next up was Wreckless, Chris Stemman had an interesting saloon chassis adapted to take a Falcon size can - he’d used a Falcon 7 motor, they were way quicker than the cars strictly eligible for the  Falcon/ Hawk R class.  The winner of that class was Pieces of 8 with Dave hackforth and Mike Gibbons making their first Southern 32 round this year.

The next round is at Won O Won in August.

On a day when the Stemmans had won everything so far, at that continues in the Team Race
