*3 Used a Super in the overall finals and a hawk in the Clubman final

The final round of the series was by far the best attended with 29 racing in the individuals and 15 teams.
Thanks to Mark Witham for the excellent race control.  Special thanks to David Farrow for the catering, hot bacon rolls and lunch time burgers were much appreciated!

Qualifying took the normal Southern 32 format of 4 separate 3 minute runs with the best one to count.  Will Stemman took top spot with 28.84 from Josh Bryant 28.43 and Mark Harwood 27.66.
The fastest Hawk powered qualifier was Mark Witham on 25.79, the fastest Hawk eligible for Hawk masters and Clubman was Barry Gilzean on 25.41.

Steve Kearey experimented with a Genesis fitted with a ProSlot motor.  He raced it to see how performance compared with Super Wasp powered X32 chassis super production cars.  It didn’t count for points because it doesn’t meet the current rules but rules  can be changed for future races.

The first final was for Clubman.  Barry Gilzean won with 41.07 laps from Jesus Martinez on 39.28 and Nick Cunningham on 37.30.    Barry’s 4th win of the year made him 2022 champion by a substantial margin.

The A final was all super productions.  Will Stemman won from Josh Bryant with Mark Harwood third.  Paul Harwood won the championship although he retired in this final.

The Team Race was run with 5 minute segments, giving a total of 40 minutes running time.   Will and Josh were the quickest team, Will setting fastest segment at 47.76 and Josh second fastest segment on 47.75.  As Teams with two premier grade drivers aren't eligible for points, the points winner were Woody and Chris Aldridge making their only Southern 32 appearance of the season.  Barry Gilzean and Aston Offer were the first Southern 32 regulars The best runs by the other teams was a single 46  and several 45s.  D and D won the Hawk class  Harwood Racing were already the 2022 champions.   GT were already champions in the Hawk powered class and chose to run a group 12 car for this race.

That completes a successful Southern 32 season, thanks to all 57 drivers who supported the racing.   It’s good to see us back up to the mid 50s we had for several years before the pandemic.  Let’s hope to see even more next year!
