Round 9 -
Roedale hosted round 9, thanks to Chris and everybody at Roedale for an excellent day’s racing, particular thanks to Ian King for his very efficient race control. This turned out to be one of the best supported rounds of the year, although it was a late addition to the calendar. Curiously enough it was better supported than recent summer rounds at Roedale. Local parking restrictions mean we’d have to park a very long way from the club when the football team are playing at home, and we don’t know when the matches are far enough in advance to put an autumn round on the S32 calendar. Which brings us to
The 2018 Southern 32 Season
Thanks to all the clubs who have already offered to host 2017 rounds, if any more
would like rounds please contact Chris Frost at or preferably before the Netley round
on 3rd December. The dates are on the BSCRA calendar. Also, please let Chris know
if you’d like to see any changes to the Southern 32 rules for 2018 -
Racing
In qualifying runs, Will Stemman was the only driver to do 48 the 3 minutes. Robin Cornwall was top in Falcon with a 43.
The Falcon clubman final saw a close race between Robin and Simon Francis. In the end Simon took the lead to thake the championship with a round to spare. Congratulations to Simon , now both the National and Southern 32 2017 Clubman Falcon champion.

Super Production / Falcon Masters
The Finals got under way with an E final win fro Chris Frost. The D final was won by Nick Thrower with his super, which meant supers took all the top 13 places. On this occasion Supers seem to have a more of an advantage over Falcons than on the long straights of tracks like Dowty. Falcon Masters was a rerun of the close clubman race between Simon Francis and Robin Cornwall. Again Robin led some of the way and again Simon won to take the championship with a round to spare.
This was the first outing for the recently approved JK Hawk Retro motor in the “Falcon” class. John Ovens took one to third in Falcon Masters, the performance looking very similar to a Falcon.
Stuart Watson won the C final by 3 laps from Stan Alton. Phil Hemsley won the B final by over a lap from Ben Tapp. Phil’s 79 was the fastest of all the finals, but as it was in the B it only gave him 5th overall.
The A final wasn’t the cleanest of runs. Ian Barker had been 4th fastest qualifier, but ran close to his qualifying pace to win ahead of Vince Lee. Paul Harwood too third ahead of top qualifier Will Stemman. Will retains the championship lead but Paul is still in with a chance of the title if he deices to contest the final round.

Le Mans 32
The team race was a close run race with VIP and Lukio closely matched, Ian Barker and Vince Lee set the fastest times of the day and VIP finally won by a couple of laps. VIP have won the last 3 Le Mans 32 rounds with the same car. Team Dean took third ahead of Harwood Racing who have now won the championship with a round to spare. There were three Falcon runners, Luton won the subclass with 7th overall to displace Norfolk and Chance from the championship lead. However, the championship is still very much open between these two teams.
