Round 1- North London SME - 15 January

Club web site

The season started at North London. Firstly, best wishes for a speedy recovery to the  regulars who were ill.  That together with holidays and family issues meant numbers were down for this round. The much forecast snow, ice and high winds in the days leading up to the event didn’t seem to be an issue, none the less and early finish was welcome!. Thanks to Ian, Paul and all at North London for such a good day’s racing.  We look forward to more competitors at Rockingham for round 2.

Paul Harwood was 2 laps clear top in qualifying, and all 5 super runners qualified ahead of the Falcons.   The Falcon runners were rather closer with Cliff Bicknell top.

The Clubman’s final saw a clear win for Cliff, with Chris Stemman narrowly taking second from Graham Sampson with Mark Ellis taking 4th.

Chris Stemman  took C final by a comfortable margin while  Mark Ellis took a close fought second.
The B final was again won by a comfortable margin, John Ovens also winning Falcon Masters. Second place was close between Graham Sampson and Cliff Bicknell, both going a lot quicker than their clubman final runs. while Mick Metcalfe just lost out to Cliff for third.
The A final was fairly well spaced out with Paul Harwood taking a not unexpected win from Will Stemman, Ian Fisher and Luton’s sole representative Nick Thrower.

Le Mans 32

The main story of the team race was Harwood Racing were quicker than Eces and they were quicker than anyone else. Those teams finished 1-2.   Luton chose to go for the Falcon powered class, and took third, the best Le Mans 32 result ever with a Falcon.  Mark Ellis didn’t have a team partner till Bob Hallums arrived, so Chris Stemman took the first run.  Mark’s team took 4th narrowly ahead of GT.  As usual NFC chose the Falcon powered class and took 6th.
