The A Final
The weekend started with the Production Challenge for Super Production and Genesis cars.
A big thank you to David Sargent for excellent race control and to all the others who helped run the meeting
The cars were much the same as last year except that the new Betta Ferrari 499 and Mack Glickenhaus bodyshells proved popular.
The race format was an individual 1 minute qualifying run to seed the 15 competitors into 2 segmented finals.
Lee Parsons top qualified with a 6.150 second lap ahead of Josh Bryant and Aston Offer. James Cleave and Ross Grogan got into the 5.9s in 2022. Ross thought the track was running slower this time possibly because it hadn’t been cleaned since the Nats in May.
Ant Hawkes won the B final by a lap from Mark Witham. Simon Scott was third with the top placed Genesis ahead of Pete Crane’s Genesis. Adrian Blakey was the top clubman in 11th overall.
Lee Parsons led the A final throughout and won from Josh Bryant by 5 laps. A further 11 laps back were the closely matched Luton pair of Aston Offer and Barry Gilzean, Aston eventually taking third by just 0.06 of a lap. Ant’s B final time was good for 5th overall just beating Bob Budge while B finalists Mark and Simon completed the top 8
Lee Parson’s winning car. The motor has a Koford can with Pro Slot magnets and armature. It uses 7:40 ratio 72 pitch gears and Alpha Prima rear tyres. Note the gel tape to damp the chassis movement and to lock the front pin tubes while the rear pin tubes are free to float. Tape is easy to change to tune the handling to suit the track conditions.
