INTRO 32

The first event of the 2023 was the INTRO 32 Championship.

There’s been a lot of work to bring the track back up to prime condition since the last year, rebraiding several sections, improving the power feeds and levelling. Thanks to all the volunteers who did all the work.

The INTRO class is restricted to clubman grade drivers using a standard Genesis chassis and standard motors - everybody was using either a JK Hawk 7BB or JK Hawk 7 motor.
This year is the first time the INTRO 32 event has been held on the same weekend as the open classes.

It was good to welcome drivers racing in the event for the first time Paul, Martin and Keith from the NERCS club and Adrian from Fylde.

Racing commenced with one driver at a time 1 minute qualifying runs, the fastest single lap is used to seed the drivers for the final. The lap times were quicker than last year, surely the track maintenance must have helped with that.

All 11 competitors ran in the final with 8 on the track and 3 sitting out each segment.   The seeding put the fastest qualifiers were running in the final segment.

All 10 competitors ran in the final with 8 on the track and 2 sitting out each segment.   The seeding put the fastest qualifiers were running in the final segment.

Ben Tapp won the championship by 10 laps from David Ensor with Bill Jenner taking 3rd with a borrowed car.   Adrian Blakey took 4th on his first visit to the track while Sammy Broom did well to come 5th with her Hawk powered Genesis amongst a field of Group 12 powered cars
