9th October -
After a variable season of attendances it was good to see 18 racers turn up at Fylde for the final round of the BSL season.
Attending his 1st meeting since the beginning of the season Shep set the 1/32nd heat pace with Steve Sargent & Pete Clarkson not far behind. Murray Wallace was the class of the Genesis runners & joined them in the A Final. The same top 3 closely contested the final with all 3 leading a few times & all 3 finishing on the same lap! Damon Ryland secured top clubman spot of the day by qualifying top for the B Final but Richard Turner improved as the day went on & ran out comfortable winner of that Final. In coming 2nd in this final Peter Donely also secured the top Hawk runner title for the season. In a very rare trip out of Scotland for a BSL Mr. SCRN, Pat Skene won the C Final while the Top Junior, Top Newcomer & Clubman Champion for the season, Tyler Tattersall took the honours in the D. After Sandy Wedderburn retired early Dave
Wood took the E Final win ahead of another improving junior in Miley Lomas.
In the
1/24th Team Race Pete Clarkson set the pace in the first round of segments for Team
131 but this pace was improved on in the 2nd round by Steve Sargent for Fylde to
take the lead by 4 laps at halfway. Betta & Classic with Ian Fitzpatrick & Steve
Mutimer were running 15 laps behind 131 them in 3rd 131 clawed a lap back on Fylde
in the 3rd segment while Betta & Classic pulled back 4 laps on 131. In the last segment
Peter Donely put in a very steady drive to secure the win for Fylde while a charge
by Steve Mutimer to score the fastest segment of the day allowed Betta & Classic
to overhaul 131 for 2nd.
