The 24th British Slotracing League Finals
This year following the opening of The National Centre in Corby, BSL racers as a whole voted in favour of holding the Finals there. Unfortunately due to it only being possible to arrange this part way through the year a few racers already had other arrangements. Even so with only 13 series racers racing at the Finals and one of the lowest ever turn outs by series racers for any BSL event it was a surprise. However the addition of 11 racers from further south a very good day’s racing was had by all who attended.
Congratulations to all the winners & especially the up & coming drivers which the BSL has always been about, Jade Slater Clubperson champion, Harry Shepherd top junior & Steven Pearce top newcomer all of which performed very well at the Finals.
Shep clung on to his long held individual title by the narrowest of margins as Richy won the series final. It was also good to see regular supporters through the years, Keith Charles & David Sargent win the team title.
Many thanks to all who helped run the Finals as well as round organisers and as ever a big thank you to SCD for sponsoring the series.
Finally on a sad note we marked our respects to Charlie Fitzpatrick who has been such a big part of slot racing from its very inception. He will be greatly missed.
