Highland Slot Car Club  28 May

Eighteen drivers attended the Highland round of the 2017 BSL.

1/32 Production

The drivers were divided into three groups of six based on the provisional championship positions following the previous days round at Barnton. On the Highland 8 drivers get four heats with the aggregate of the best two runs seeding the places in the finals.

In the first round of heats the early Falcon pace was set by Pete Clarkson with over 31 laps while in super Production it was Martin with 32.45.

After the four runs, Pete Clarkson was top falcon on 63.15 just ahead of Murray Wallace on 62.90, these two would make it into the A Final with the super production runners.

In super production Steve Sergent tq’d on 65.05 just ahead of Martin Ellis on 64.90 and so to the finals.

The C final was a fight for first and second between two home members with Steven Fraser getting the well deserved win from Steve Smith. Paul Hackett Evans and Jade were very close together for third and fourth.

The B final was a four way fight for the win with Norman Fawcett holding his nerve and coming out on top from Alan, Peter and Richard.

In the A Final the super production battle was between Martin and Steve as Richy and David Sargent retired. Martin eventually came out on top just over a lap up on Steve. Pete Clarkson won the falcon battle by just under a lap from Murray Wallace.

Team Race

There were 9 teams for the team race so all 8 lanes were used with a sit out from black. Stint length was 7.5 mins giving a race length of 1 hour.

The early pace in the first two stints was between RM racing and Nay Pals. The bar being set with runs of 80-85 laps. However disaster struck for RM racing in the third stint when the motor moved as a result of a trip into the barriers. Sportingly, Richy fixed the motor and gear as Richard was race controlling. Fylde 1 had a disaster with their motor coming loose a number of times and eventually retiring in the last stint.

The lead fight was taken up by Big n hard and 131 but RM racing came back with successive stints of over 85 laps to pull back the 20 laps lost in the pits and win overall by 12 laps from 131.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and we hope the work on the track and clubroom lived up to expectations. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
