BSCRA's  National Slot Centre,  Corby    Sunday 21st November

The final 2021 round was the ProAm / Southern 32 double header on  20th /21st November at the National Centre in Corby.   There was a variety of slot racing to see at the weekend,  our friends at Rockingham club were running a proxy hard body event on  their track.

After practice we had the presentation of the 2020 Southern 32 trophies.  

The racing was organised with the normal Southern 32 format of four separate 3 minute qualifying  races, best one to count. On the 8 lane track that gave each driver a run on alternate lanes.   

Top qualifier was Will Stemman, the National Super Production champion’s 28.45 was  the only 28 lap 3 minute run of the day.    Barry Gilzean was the top Genesis runner on 24.76.

The Clubman final was won by Barry Gilzean, that was result was enough to win  the 2021 championship by one point from Bill Jenner

Will’s winning car, the same one he used to take win the National Super Production title

With 22 racers 3 overall finals were needed.    The C final was all Hawk/ Falcon powered cars, Chris Frost won by a narrow margin from Marc Lyons, but Marc won the Hawk Masters championship.  Aston Offer won the B final from Stan Alton, Barry Gilzean won Hawk Masters, he was the only Hawk powered car to qualify for the B.  Will Stemman won the A final, he’s won both rounds he’s entered this year, but the championship is for best 3 scores.  Paul and Greg Harwood were in contention for the championship, Greg took second place in the final ahead of Woody, but Paul’s fourth place was enough to take the championship

Le Mans 32

The team race was very close all the way through.   The overall winners were More Jeager Geos, but as Will and Woody are premier grade drivers they weren’t eligible for points.   Potton Warriors were second on the road, Aston took his first points win this time running with Steve Kearey.   Luton SCC were second in the points which took them to third in the championship.   Harwood Racing 5th on the road was enough to take the championship just a single point ahead of LMR who were one place and 4½ laps behind them in this race.   GT won the Hawk class in the race and the championship

2022 Southern 32

Next year we look forward to our first full season since 2019.  Please contact Chris if your club would like a round, we already know Luton, Coulsdon, Timaru, Netley,and North London SME would like a round, and the final round will be at the National Centre.  We’re holding fire on allocating dates till the  1/32 BOC dates are finalised, we don’t want anybody to fall foul of the BOC rule about competitors not running on the track in the 2 months before the meeting.
The rules will be much the same as this year.  
BSCRA rules have changed for 2022 to allow BSCRA to approve a new Super Production chassis.     The new chassis isn't approved yet, it is expected to be approved soon, although we aren’t sure exactly when.   It is anticipated BSCRA will set an eligibility date when the chassis is on sale to anybody who wants one.  That's when it'll become eligible for the Southern 32.
Entry fees haven’t changed for  many years, an increase is  worth considering.  All the extra will go to the host clubs who no doubt could do with it!
