The series for you!

Round 4- Coulsdon   21 May

Club web site

The Coulsdon round saw a lot of drivers making their first Southern 32 appearance of the season, and a couple of drivers in their first Southern 32. Welcome to Coulsdon’s Mike Spurway and a new record holder for the most southerly Southern 32 competitor - Allan Tucker from New Zealand.  Thanks to everybody for an enjoyable day’s racing, particularly Mike Read for organising the meeting and  race control.

Vince Lee’s first run of 31.86 stood as top qualifing, and Vince sat out his last two runs, only for Dave Harvey to pip him for top spot with 31.92.    Chris Frost was the fastest of the Falcons with 27s . New national champion Simon Francis was top clubman runner with a big 26.

Clubman Finals

Bill Jenner produced by far his best run to win the B final a lap clear of Andy Bishop with Mike Spurway just half a lap behind in third.

Simon Francis produced a not unexpected win by nearly a lap from Steve Rhodes, with Allan Tucker a further lap back half a lap ahead of Dick Stevenson.

Clubman A Final

Dick, Steve, Simon and Allan

Super Production and Falcon Masters

The first final was rather unusual in that nobody was running at the end, Mike Spurway having hit trouble and Andy Bishop had an unassailable lead in the final minute.
The D final Steve Rhodes, Allan Tucker and Dick Stevenson all exceeded their qualifying pace to finish 1-2-3.
The C final was effectively the Falcon Masters final, again the first 3 exceeded their qualifying pace to finish 1-2-3, Chris Frost winning from Simon Francis and John Ovens while Gibbo took the only super in the race to fourth.
The all super production B final produced a close top 3 with Les May winning from Ian Barker who was just a couple of feet ahead of Will Stemman.
Dave Stevenson won the A final by almost a lap from Dave Harvey with Paul Harwood third and Vince Lee in fourth, his cause wasn’t helped by having to change to an unfamiliar controller in the warm up.

Le Mans 32

The top 5 teams all did over 100 laps in at  least one of their 10 minute segments, but two teams were able to produce that sort of pace for most of the race.  Won O Won won congratulations to Dave and Mike who finished just over a lap from VIP.  Third overall, with two vistors to the track were Harwood racing, they were 5 laps ahead of the Stevenson family team, Dave having set the fastest segment of all. Lurkio to 5th under two laps back.

The only Falcon runner was Norfolk.... Perhaps slighty misnamed as they now lead the Falcon sub class.

We can now lok forward to the next round which is at Oaklands Park in June.
