Production Challenge
The event was held a Fylde Rugby Club, Lytham St Annes on 4th July and was open to any member with a Super Production or Production car.
The one minute qualifying for this and the Production championship was combined. Drivers were seeded into 8x3 minute segmented heats. The challenge could be won from any heat. Paul Shepherd top qualified ahead of Gordon Dickson.
Peter Donely won the E final by less than 2 laps from Steven Mavor. Graham Thomas won the D final by 5 laps from Alan Lucas, these being the only two to beat Peter’s E final time. Martin Jackson won the C final by 4 laps from Chris Clements to move them into the lead so far. Chris Aldridge was the only B final winner to beat Martin’s time, while Nick Clements took top spot for the Falcon Clubman final.
The A final was close, particularly between the Blackpool pair of Paul Shepherd and Gordon Dickson. They went into the final segemnt on the same lap, Paul extending his slender lead to win by nearly 2 laps. There was an even closer finish for third with Chris Thomas almost exactly a lap up on James Cleave.
