The SCD Club Team Championship
The Club Team Championship was run on Sunday 5th July. 12 teams lined up, all representing registered clubs. Several clubs entered two teams. The race format is 8 segments of 22 1/2 minute making for a total of 3 hours running. Each driver has two lanes.
Rockingham were straight into the lead with a quick run on blue taking nearly 10 laps lead ahead of Leicester A. At the other end of the field multiple winners North London got into the wrong lane at hit the barrier and out came the motor.
Rockingham continued a largely trouble free run and extended their lead on Leicester A, with Luton recovering from a slow first segment in third. By half distance, Rockingham had 44 laps lead from Leicester A, with Luton a further 29 laps in arrears in close company with Blackpool 1. Leicester had a lengthy pit stop in segment 6, allowing Luton up to second by 3/4 distance. Luton closed a little on the leader in segment 7, but Rockingham come through to retain their Club Team Champion’s title by the very comfortable margin of 100 laps. Leicester A came home third, with Blackpool not far behind in fourth.
