Round 4   6/7 August- Dunfermline

We welcomed a small but select entry of 9 people for our first 1/32 BOC Meeting since we moved to Dunfermline.

SALOON

James Cleave was top qualifier in Saloon, followed by Greg Harwood and Martin Ellis. Pete Clarkson won the C final with 116 laps, a score that only Steve Sargent could beat in the B final, setting a new target of 120 laps.

All the A finalists were immediately faster than that, and the best race of the day soon developed. Martin led at the first change, but James moved from 3rd to 1st in the second segment. Greg also moved ahead of Martin in segment 3, but less than 0.4 lap covered them all starting the last segment. Greg dropped back a little but James and Martin were almost side-by-side with time running out. The race was decided by two things - Martin setting the best score by anyone on the tricky Blue lane in the final segment, and James coming off in the esses with just a couple of seconds to go. Well done Martin!

FORMULA 1

James was top qualifier again in F1, followed by Josh Bryant and Greg. Steve won the C final with 116 laps, a score beaten by David Sargent (118) and Martin (117) in the B final.

James led the A final throughout, initially from Josh, but Greg took 2nd place before halfway and stayed there till the end. James won by 4 laps and all 3 A-finalists beat David's score.

SPORTS

In Sports, James had possibly the most comprehensive victory I've ever seen! His qualifying time of 4.206 sec was 0.395 faster than the next best (yes, almost 4 tenths faster!). He proceeded to win by more than 13 laps, setting the fastest lap on every lane and the best score on every lane. He comfortably beat the old 4x3 minute lap record, even though we now run on reduced power (12.5V).

Greg took 2nd place from the B final and Josh was 3rd.

AWARDS

We assigned overall positions based on BOC Championship points scored, so James was 1st overall with 100 points for his 2 class wins. Greg was 2nd overall with 94 points from two 2nd places, and Martin 3rd with 91 points for a win and a 5th place. Pete won the Main Grade trophy, having won Main Grade in all 3 classes. Well done all!
