1/24 BOC  2022   British Open Championship

Lee Parsons wins Saloon and Eurosport, Will Stemman wins OG12,
Steve Sweetman top main grade

Ross Grogan and Will Stemman lead the championship.

The second round of the 2022 championship was at Pinewood Raceway.  A big thank you to Lee Parsons, Steve Clark and Keith Gibson for a very well run meeting

Betta and Classic Saloon
Saturday’s racing was for the BSCRA saloon -  a class for group 12 powered standard chassis, these day the  JK C 43 is the chassis of choice.

Lee Parsons was top qualifier with a 4.672 sec lap, followed by Ross Grogan 4.709, Josh Bryant 4.784, Will Stemman 4.767 and Martin Ellis 4.856.  These were the only drivers under 5 seconds, and were the 5 drivers in the A final.
Stan Alton won the B final and was the top main grade racer.
The top 5 places overall were taken by the A finalists, Lee won by 11 laps from Will with Ross third a further 3 laps in arrears.

The winning car used a JK C 43 Aeolos chassis.  The group 12 motors used a Cahoza can, T5 magnets and a Valiko armature. The gearing was 7:41 , 72 pitch. It has B52 tyres on S&K hubs.   The body was an Attan Tesla.

Sunday’s racing had a larger entry, around a third of the field doing Sunday only.  Sunday’s racing commenced Open Group 12 - a class that allows a free choice of chassis, but has restricted motors. The fastest qualifying times were set on Saturday, Lee again top qualified (4.132 sec)  and the same 5 drivers qualified for the A final - Josh (4.145), Will (4.176),  Ross (4.214) and Martin (4.432)

Steve Sweetman won the C final and was the main grade winner with a time that took him to 6th overall. Richard Mack’s B final winning time was good for 5th.
Will won the A final by just over a lap from Ross, followed by Martin and Lee.    Josh found his car un drivable in the final so withdrew.

Horky 2021 chassis, The group 12 motors used a Cahoza can, T5 magnets and a Koford 0.518” diameter  50 degree armature. The gearing was 7:42 , 72 pitch. It has JK tyres on S&K hubs.   The body was a BPA Lola
