* qualified for final 2, ran in final 1

The individual racing used the normal Southern 32 race format with each driver having 4 separate qualifying runs, best run to count.   The finals  were 5 minutes on a single lane.   That meant half the field qualified on red green blue and purple lanes and the other half qualified on the alternate lanes - white orange yellow and black.
Gavin Wills was top qualifier with his super production car - 28.3 laps, the only 28 of the day.  Dave Stevenson was the fastest Hawk runner, but as a premier grade driver he didn’t score Hawk Masters points.   Steve Taylor was the next fastest Hawk runner just one hundred the of a lap ahead of Barry Gilzean, they were the top two in both Clubman and Hawk Masters.  A few clubman grade drivers elected to run both  Hawk and  Super Wasp powered cars in the heats so they qualified to run in both the clubman finals where Hawk power is required and the more powerful Super Wasp in the overall finals.

There were 11 runners in the clubman finals.  The closely matched Coulsdon drivers Mark Seventon and A J Fryer took 1-2 in the first final.  In the top final Barry Gilzean won by a lap from Steve Taylor with Phil Moss in third.  That win made Barry the Southern 32 clubman champion ahead of Bill Jenner and Mike Ransley - the same 1-2-3 as 2022.    Barry won the National clubman championship earlier in the year so is promoted out of clubman grade for 2024.

 Southern 32 2023 Final Round

The final round of the 2023 championship was held at the BSCRA National Centre in Corby on Sunday 26th November. This was a double header with the Pro Am final round on the Saturday.

Le Mans 32

The Le Mans 32  team race had 14 entries,  26  drivers from the individuals plus Mark Witham and Chris joined in after full time race control duties in the individual.
The top 3 teams were very closely matched with Prestige winning by 2 laps from Rock 1 who were only quater of a lap ahead of Harwood racing.    The Hawk powered class was also close with Sticky winning by just over a lap from GT with Norfolk and Chance just over 5 laps behind in third.
Harwood racing take the 2023 Le mans 32 championship.

Thanks to Mark Witham for the excellent race control.  Special thanks to David Farrow for the catering, hot bacon rolls were much appreciated!

2024
We aim to have next years calendar in place soon, clubs have been asked when they would like to host rounds.
There are some discussion about rule changes for next year, clubs will be consulted about that soon.  One idea is to give more flexibility on race format, the existing format works well at several tracks but needs a lot of work  with some race control systems.
