Chris Clements took the best presented award with his MG Lola. Following the judging the 1 minute qualifying runs got underway. Marc Lyons was the fastest clubman with a 6.922 second lap, while Simon Francis was the fastest Genesis with 6.569. The top spots overall were inevitably taken by Super Production cars which were all JK X32 chassis with Super Wasp motors. Last year’s winner Gavin Wills took top spot with a 5.647 second lap, followed by Will Stemman on 5.705. That broke the 5.687 record for this class. The qualifying seeded the fianalists into 4 groups. The D final was all Falcon / Hawk R powered cars. It was won by Marc Lyons, the top clubman on 197 laps. The C final had a mixture of Super Wasp and Falcon / Hawk R powered cars. Pete Clarkson won with 214 ahead of Simon Francis on 207. Simon set a new Genesis record for the track with his Hawk R powered car. The top two groups were all Super Wasp powered. Dave Stevenson won the B final with 227, exactly a lap from Stan Alton. Dave was the top main grade driver, his Nat’s F1 win means he’ll be up to premier next year. The A final gave us a close race with Will Stemman, James Cleave and Gavin Wills very close for most of the race. James was with 235, a lap further back Gavin took second just 0.12 of a lap ahead of Will. |
