1/24 BOC  2017   British Open Championship

Saloon

Saturday’s racing was for production saloon. Firstly was the best presented body judging and the winner was Ron Kiddell

We ran two classes - BSCRA rules and ISRA rules.  The classes are pretty similar, the obvious difference is the body with ISRA class has to run with the Alfa Romeo body used for the 2017 World Champions, where as most of the BSCRA field were running bodies from the 2016 or 2015 Worlds.   The ISRA class allowed a more limited range of chassis and the BSCRA class didn’t allow the use of different manufacturer’s motor parts.   So what difference did all that make?  Apparently 4 milliseconds! - Jan Zemlicka top qualified in the ISRA Class with a 5.044 second lap and James Cleave was top of the BSCRA runners on 5.048.

The  9 man D final was won by Keith Gibson with 225 laps. Will Stemman won the C with 233.  That was beaten in the B by David Sargent on 239 Stan Alton with 237 and Bob Budge with 234.  With 14 laps separating the B,C and D final winners, it was a surprise just how much quick the A final went, James Cleave taking the win with 264 ten laps clear of the very closely matched pair of Ross Grogan and Lee Parsons with Gavin Wills on 252, ISRA winner Pavel Flaisig on 244 and David in 6th with his B final time
