FYLDE BSL - 14 SEP 25

The final round of the Norman Fawcett BSL Memorial Series took place on the track he built & which I know he was very happy has given racing pleasure to many for around 40 years.

We did not have a great entry at Fylde but à great racing spirit produced some very enjoyable racing that Norman would have delighted in being part of.

Martin Ellis predictably Tqd in 1/32nd but it was 3rd Tq Richard Turner who drove a faultless A Final to win by quite a comfortable margin – impressive indeed for a very occasional racers these days who showed he could still produce his form that made him premier grade some many years ago.

Pete Crane also produced a former premier driver performance to be top non-super production runner & win the B final just ahead of local Peter Donely.

Local Clubman driver Damon Ryland ran out comfortable winner of the C final ahead of son & father drivers in their 1st year of racing, Shane & Trevor Leeming who have enjoyed the year & hope we will see plenty more of in the future.

No doubting the winners of the team race with Richard & Martin teaming up as Team Morson to romp away with the win. The AA containing Ant Hawkes & Pete Crane made a good stab of challenging local Team Norman made of Pete Clarkson & Steve Sargent before Pete & Steve upped their pace in the 2nd half. Father & Son Trevor & Shane drove steadily as they continue to learn in finishing 4th.

A big thanks to all participants for co-operatively marshalling every race they were not in without delay which allowed a very prompt finish. Also a special thanks to non-racing Richard Lang who marshalled every race.

Congratulations to Shane in taking 3 series titles for Best Newcomer, Top Clubman & Top Genesis!

Norman loved team racing so the very impressive (and heavy!) Pirelli pirennial trophy was awarded to the winning series Team AA, fittingly with the ever present true sportsman fronting the team being Ant Hawkes.
