23/24 February - Pinewood

The 24th Open Championship kicked off at Pinewood with a select band of racers.   Thanks to Nigel and everybody at Pinewood for a very good meeting.   

Racing commenced on Saturday with saloon. Will Stemman qualified with a 4.302 second lap to take top spot some two tenths quicker than Mike Read in  second.

In the race Will and Josh Brynat both got under 4.3 seconds.   Will won the final from Josh with Steve Sweetman third and Ron Kiddell winning the B final for fourth overall.

Open Group 12 qualifying was rather closer, Josh Bryant was top qualifier in with a 3.852 second lap, all four A finalists were under 4 seconds

Ron Kiddell made it two B final wins in a row and  fourth overall.   

In the A final it was again Will winning overall  from Josh, this time it was Mike Read in third.

Eurosport was of course the fastest class, Mike Read top qualified with 3.386 sec lap ahead of low 3.4s by Will and Josh.

Steve Clark only ran in this class and proceeded to win the B final with 4th overall.  

The first half of the A final  saw Steve Sweetman, Josh, Will and Mike closely matched.    Will and Mike hit trouble, leaving Steve and Josh to fight for the win.  Steve won with Josh  second again with Will taking third.

Will takes a championship lead to the next round at Raceway 81 in April.   I hope we can look forward to a larger entry there!
