Betta & Classic Production Saloon 24 August
BSCRA’s annual International meeting certainly lived up to its name with about a third of the drivers coming from overseas including a sizable Czech contingent and racers from USA, New Zealand, Brazil, Lithuania and Russia.
It was a bank holiday weekend of record temperatures. If you think that was a bit
warm for the drives, spare a thought for how hot it was for cooking! An extra big
thank you to Christine for the catering throughout the week end -
The first class was production saloon. The rules for this class allow a variety
of standard pressed chassis, almost everybody chose the JK C43. The cars are powered
by group 12 motors, there were two options -
Lee Parsons topped the individual one minute qualifying runs with a 5.420 second lap followed by James Cleave on 5.471 and Tonda Vojtik on 5.527. These 3 were the only ones to beat last year’s top qualifying time.
The qualifying seeded the drivers into the 8x3 minute races that decided the result. Simon Francis, Sandy Parker and Keith Packer won the first 3 races. Chris Radisich won the C final with a time that eventually put him in the top 10. In the B final Josh Bryant and Dom Budrys were the only two to beat the Chris’s score. In the A final the top 3 qualifiers fought for the top 3 places overall, James Cleave winning by almost exactly a lap from Lee Parsons with Tonda Vojtik third. They were followed by Chris Thomas and Ross Grogan who also beat last year’s winning score.
A big thank you to Ian for the Betta and Classic sponsorship.
