FYLDE OPEN 21/22 January 2023

Round 1 of the 1/32nd Scale British Open Championship

The 1/32nd BOC got off to a great start this season with 21 racers making the Fylde Open the highest attended 1/32nd BOC in 6 years. Particularly pleasing were the number of non-premier grade drivers attending which meant there was close competition throughout the finals.


Will Stemman produced an absolutely dominant performance to win all 3 classes, particularly impressively only needing to complete 6 laps total from the 3 classes of qualification to take tq in them all!  


Martin Ellis was the nearest challenger in Saloon. He chose a different challenge in F1 in running brushless which he still qualified into the A Final with but didn’t quite have the pace to challenge for the win just for now.. Meanwhile Woody, out to make a point after ribbings about his grade status, moved up from 11th qualy to finish 2nd in F1 with a very good drive & help secure him overall Main Grade winner of the day.

Nick Cunningham switched from Restricted Power last season to brushless this year & impressed with 8th placed qualy in F1 but unfortunately broke down in the race.


Josh Bryant secured 2nd overall as the only other driver to make all 3 finals & retain a top 4 place in them  apart from Will  which with a hand funtion issue was particularly noteworthy.

Aston Offer on his 1st visit to the track impressed in taking 2nd qualy spot in sports but like a few other drivers had problems during the race.

Meanwhile one of a number of returnees to the BOC after a few years away, Paul Harwood, put in a very smooth drive in the B Sports final to take 2nd spot in the class.


Last year’s Restricted champion David Ensor got off to a good defence of his title ahead of son & father Chris & Tony  Anderson.


A big thank you to all who took part in a very friendly spirited meeting which we hope all enjoyed & certainly helped us to keep the meeting running smoothly with a race finish just past 6.30.


Finally one other big thank you to Ian Fitzpatrick of Betta for providing sufficient prizes for all racers to go home with something  – much appreciated Ian.
