Paul Hayward won pest presented body with this Mercedes >>
Each driver had 4 qualifying heats, the best two of their 3 minute heats produced the qualifying order for the final. Leicester’s Christopher Aldridge was top qualifier ahead of Bournemouth’s Scott Francis.
The final was 8 x 3 minutes. With segmented racing all the drivers have the fast and the slow lanes, so the drivers starting on the slow lanes might expect to get quicker later in the race.
The top two qualifiers choose pairs of the outside lanes first. After early leader Christopher Aldridge had car trouble at quater distance, Scott Francis then led the rest of the way, with Mike Roe taking second ahead of (Scott’s dad) Simon Francis.
Scott Francis is shown with the winning car. The winning chassis is the same one that won last year, even the motor is unchanged.
