1/32 BOC 2013 British Open Championship
Rounds 5 -
The Netley club put on a great meeting to start 2013. With Dick and Mark on race control, home members tirelessly filling half the marshalling spots, Murray on scrutineering and the excellent hot food from Ant, Netley really have set the standard for this year.
Racing started with Saloon. After two qualifying heats, the racers had 4 x 3min segmented finals. That produced good close racing, none better than the A final where Brian Saunders narrowly defeated James Cleave. Paul Shepherd was 3rd with a good run in the E final. An impressive drive from Gordon Dickson saw him top in main grade.
In F1, Paul Harwood showed us you were still in with a chance after qualifying low down, when he took 5th overall in the C final. This performance was only headed by the A finalists, James winning from Shep and Brian with Lee Parsons 4th. Stephen Siddall was top in main grade, the second Blackpool main grade win.
James won sports by 1½ laps from Brian, third just 1½ laps further back was young
