RAIL RACING AT BROOKLANDS
Brooklands lap record holder - the Napier Railton Special
A few photos of the rail racing track at Brooklands in August 2000, top & bottom view of an Auto Union rail car built in the 1950's by Walkden Fisher and a diagram to show how it all works. Rail racing cars were guided by a rail above the track surface - and this was later replaced with by tracks with a slot sunk into the surface - slot racing as we know it!
The track shown was built by Jeff Davies and a host of volunteers from the Wye Valley Club. What are the cars like to drive - how are the cars and tracks built?
There were articles telling you much more about it all in BSCRA's Slot Car Racing News magazine - free to BSCRA members.
