Falcon Powered F1
Falcon powered F1 was added to the Production Challenge menu for the first time in 2008. Due to the late finish on Saturday, this event had to be moved to Sunday 14th September. This reduced the entry to 24 drivers. The event was open to any 1/32 F1 chassis but was restricted to Falcon motors. Due to time limitations there were no qualifying runs, the drivers were seeded into three 8 man segmented finals, with a win from any final format.
The first final was won by David Sargent with 175 laps. A second excellent Fylde result came from Mathew Siddall who took the novice grade win. Neil Grogan won the second final, just failing to match David's time. Richard Mack was second just 2 laps behind Neil despite a pit stop for gear replacement. The third final looked like the quickest, and by the closing stages Paul Harwood was fighting with Ross Grogan for the lead with James Cleave and Greg Harwood close behind. However in the last segment Ross was slightly delayed, and Paul had gear trouble, which left James and Greg to contest the win. The closing minute saw James and Greg side by side pushing their cars right on the limit - who was going to push too hard and deslot - who wasn't going top push hard enough and come second? James deslotted around 10 sec from the end, and was the first to congratulate Greg on a great win.
