B  Changes to simplify BSCRA Driver Grading Rules

B1 Age Related Rules  APPROVED

The BSCRA driver grading rules shall be simplified by using the existing rules for adult members for all ages.

Explanation

The present rules give different grading rules for 16 year old and younger drivers.

The rule was original intended to make it less likely junior drivers would be promoted out of clubman grade. The rule hasn't made a difference to any driver's grade since 2015 when one driver was affected.

Theoretically it is possible it would do what was intended in most years although there have been a few events where it would make junior drivers more likely to be promoted out of clubman grade.

Handbook changes
National championship rule 2.3
Delete “  aged over sixteen on January 1 of the Championship year concerned”   and   “Anyone aged under sixteen on January 1 of the Championship year concerned who in the last 10 years has twice finished in the top 24 places in an overall individual National Championship “

B2 Masters Grade  APPROVED

The BSCRA driver grading rules shall be simplified by removing Masters grade.

Explanation

The present rules include a Masters grade for former champions, they race in main grade.
From a racing point of view the Masters grade doesn't make any difference.
Some of the champions who are in Masters grade don't realise the grade exists.

Handbook changes
National championship rule 2.2

Delete “ NOTE - Masters grade -   …....   Masters grade drivers are eligible for the main grade.”

BSCRA members are welcome to propose changes to BSCRA rules other than car and track standards.  (This year BSCRA is in the middle of a two year freeze on car and track standards.)  The proposal need to be proposed and seconded by current BSCRA members.  All proposals must be received by the BSCRA secretary (Chris Frost ) by 1st July 2022, although we recommend you get any proposals in before the deadline.

The proposals will then be reviewed by the Competition Rules Committee / Council (in consultation with the proposer).   BSCRA members will then vote on them and the decision will be published at the beginning of October.  Any changes  will come into force on 1st January 2023 unless agreed otherwise.

Please note that the 2 year rule freeze doesn’t apply to adding new products to the approved list,  as most of you know, new bodyshells are added to the approved list several times a year.
