Netley Classic 2013 - 4 August

The Netley club made us very welcome for an excellent day's racing, thank you to everybody at Netley

The standard of cars was very high, best presented body judging was very close, producing  a 5 way tie on first choice votes, the one of those with most 2nd place votes was the winner. 
Bill Charters won best presented with this model of Bruce McLaren's "Zerex Special" 

 

 

 

F1

All the classes gave everybody a run on each lane, the drivers' best 3 runs counted to qualify for step up finals. The first racing class was 1961-1965 F1s. This culminated in the A final with Steve Turner, Dick Smith, Mick Langridge and Mick Kerr (below).

 

Mick Langridge won the final with Dick and Steve all on the lead lap   Full F1 Results  .  Below - Mick's winning car.

  

Sports/GT

The 1963-1967 Sports/GT class culminated in the A final where Rob and Mike joined Mick and Mick .  

 

This time it was Mick Kerr with Mike Thomson second also on the lead lap. Full SportsResults  Below - Mick's winning car

      

Saloon

The final class of the day Saloon and Touring cars that competed in the British Saloon Car Championships 1961 to 1965. This provided a wide range of cars from Ralph Parker's Mini to several  Ford Galaxies. A couple of drivers didn't have eligible saloon cars, so ran other saloons in a "formula libre" class with a separate final.
The main A final Consisted of  Dick Smith, Richard Mack, Mike Thomson and Mick Langridge .

Ralph's exploits with a Mini would undoubtedly given Derek a good laugh
