Despite this round of the BSL being held on Father’s day a very encouraging 24 people made their way up to Blackpool slot car club for the 4th round of the 2016 BSL.

The day started out with a 1 minute tribute to our recently departed friend Chas Keeling, he was a great supporter of this series throughout its 23 year history.

First up was the individual 1/32nd production class. Harry Shepherd won the D final comfortably from Chris Morton, Mike Ogden got 3rd in this one.

Ian Fitzpatrick won the C final from Pete Mckendrick and Richard Wallace.

The B final saw a win for home driver Stephen Siddall from the 2 Fylde members Pete Clarkson and Norman Fawcett. The B final also had in it a home driver making his first appearance at the BSL. Steven Pearce certainly gave a good impression of himself at this event by qualifying 9th overall; I’m sure he will go on and get some great results in the future.

The A final was, as expected, dominated by home drivers taking 4 out of the 6 spots, the other 2 taken by Fylde’s Steve and David Sargent. Paul Shepherd took his first win of this year’s series so far by 1 part from series leader Martin Ellis. Steve Sargent took 3rd by half a lap from Peter Donely who finished ahead of track designer Gordon Dickson and David Sargent.

The Afternoon racing was the 1/24th team race. 13 teams were involved as some people came later in the day just to run in the team race. Young guns (Martin Ellis and Gordon Dickson) won the race by 22 laps from BST (David Sargent and Peter Donely). These were the only 2 teams whom achieved over 100 laps in every segment. Team Shep (Harry and Paul Shepherd) were 3rd.

Thank you to everybody for coming down and promptly going to marshal after racing which helped the meeting run smoothly and enabled us to finish in good time. Hopefully we will see a good turnout at the next round at North Wales.
