Castle Raceway Area Round – 13 Mar 16

Despite the absence of a few regular area racers the last round of this year’s area meetings produced a very good day’s racing especially as there were effectively 8 racers still battling to take the 3 remaining Nats.places not decided.

This season’s racing returnees had a good day with Paul Evans taking top points in Novice to win the area title.

Matt Siddall was impressive especially in Sports in taking 2nd. Despite returning after his home round, this result was enough for him to qualify for the Nats in that class & leave him high on the reserve list in the other classes.

Local Chris Rigby showed how good a driver he can be by taking 4th spot in Saloon – an excellent result.

Young Harry was again impressive in Sports & did enough to finish 9th in the championship.

Meanwhile Dad dominated overall to win all 3 classes & ensure he was area champion in all 3.

David Sargent had a very good day in claiming 2 2nd places & a 3rd which were enough to come 2nd

in the Victor Ludorum table ahead of his Dad!

With Matt returning to racing his Dad was running 2nd choice cars for the last 2 rounds but still came 4th overall ahead of Pete Clarkson in 5th.

Peter Donely again drove very consistently to gain good results & deservedly took the Most Improved title.

Many thanks to the North Wales club for putting on a very enjoyable meeting &  rounding off a really good season’s racing.

Next stop is the Nationals! At present we have 5 drivers who have qualified in all 3 classes, 4 who have qualified in some & a further 3 who would all like to go if places available. I have requested the extra 5 places we would like but as usual we will have to be patient & see what becomes available. Good luck to all who race at the Nats.

Finally for any racers who did not attend at Rhuddlan, this year when I asked if anyone else was interested in standing for the area co-ordinator role for next season, especially as I now hold a council position again, some interest has been shown. If anyone else is interested please let me know by the Nationals.
