New Area Co-ordinator

Just a quick message for the moment to say that in the absence of anybody volunteering to take on the Area Co-ordinator position since Steve Siddall stated he wished to step down last year, I have now decided to take on the role again to resolve the position. Steve is aware of this & is happy somebody else is taking over.

I will be in touch again in the near future but for now would just like to thank Steve for the time he has put in over the last 3 years for the Area.

AREA 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013/14

Castle Raceway Results.

Please see the results from the final round at Castle Raceway. Thanks to all the guys there who gave up their time to help run what I thought was a very enjoyable meeting.

National Qualifications.

Please see the championship standings. At the moment we have 5 places in Production, 11 in Saloon and 8 in F1 and Sports. Please can you let me know by midday on Saturday 15th March if you are wanting to take your place at the Nat’s or not, that way I can let the BSCRA know. When deciding please bear in mind that I will not be attending and I have a gut feeling that Brendan, Peter Donnely, and Damon Ryland will not be attending. Any places not taken within Area 2 will be offered to the next highest placed qualifier from Area 2 and if required I will ask for more places. So please can the people who have qualified for just one or two classes let me know if they want the ones that they are missing or are not going to attend so we can pass their place onto someone else within the Area as soon as possible. For those that do go I wish you all the success that you deserve, bring back more silver wear and championships to the Area ! Area Co coordinator Position.

I still await someone to take over the responsibility, but in the meantime will continue to liaise between the BSCRA council and Area 2. You might have noticed that I took no moneys from the Area Rounds as I felt that after being out of pocket –providing trophies etc. over the last few years I was not going to do so again, so sorry to all those who feel that they should have a trophy or something.

Area AGM

Due to the changes in the racing calendar and the transition period, the February AGM never happened. I would much rather we had a social get together sometime in the summer and have a round the table chat about Area 2 and be positive about moving forwards, a couple of things I would like to see personally is computer race control at every track , I think I might have mentioned this previously, and look into a more equitable way of racing for all. At the moment due to heats, semis and finals some racers are only having 2 heats per class. I know that it mirrors the Nat’s and makes for competition but what do people think about segmented racing for all classes as in Sports, the same amount of track time for all ? Although I enjoy listening to the squabbling about start times and the amount of practise how does everyone feel about earlier start times and if you are there and the club is open why not get on the track ?. If I am late, stuck in traffic, have a long trip then so be it, just as long as the track is on when I get there…..
