Minutes of Meetings and Decisions
A1 Falcon replacement for INTRO 32
The Falcon is the only motor currently permitted in this class. The Falcon is now out of production and we have been told there is no prospect of any more being made. Therefore BSCRA have no choice but to approve an alternative. Members are asked to vote on the following options
Option 1 Approve a Falcon equivalent
Approve the nearest equivalent to a Falcon 7. The new motor is the JK Hawk Retro. ( Testing has shown the Hawk Retro has similar performance but longer brush life than the Falcon 7)
The Hawk Retro is allowed in INTRO 32 from 1st November 2017 (the usual one months notice) but areas and clubs are free to introduce it sooner if they wish.
Option 2 Approve a slower motor
Approve a slower motor than the Falcon 7. The new motor is the JK Hawk MB.
Proposer's notes -
Both proposed motors fit the Genesis chassis in exactly the same way as existing motors.
There is some difference of opinion over which is best for attracting newcomers -
A2 Continued use of Falcon motors
If option 1 above is approved, members may decide to allow existing Falcons to continue
in use alongside the JK Hawk Retro. The members are asked to decide between options
A & B.
The Falcon 7 has a significant performance advantage over the Hawk MB. If existing Falcons were allowed alongside the JK Hawk MB, racers with Falcons would have an unfair advantage. Therefore, if option 2 above is chosen the Falcon will not be eligible from 1st January 2018.
Option A Falcons and Hawk Retros allowed.
Existing approved Falcon motors continue to be allowed alongside the JK Hawk Retro
Option B Only Hawk Retros allowed
The JK Hawk Retro will be to only motor eligible from 1st January 2018.
Permitted Motors One of the following motors only may be used
": JK and TSR Falcon up to and including Falcon VII / Falcon 7"
To be replaced by
": JK Hawk Retro : JK and TSR Falcon up to and including Falcon VII / Falcon 7" (Options 1 and A)
"JK Hawk Retro only" (Options 1 and B)
"JK Hawk MB only" (Option 2)
A3 Only one body allowed
INTRO 32 shall be a one bodyshell class. For 2018 and 2019 the shell will be the Betta 2014 Porsche 919HY LMP1. The shell to be used will be reviewed every 2 years by the CRC.
"Body Regulations 1. The body shall be on the BSCRA approved body list (list available
on the BSCRA website, NOTE the BSP Audi R8 and R10 are not permitted)"
shall be replaced by
