2017 Proposals - E  - 1/32 Nationals

There is no change to these rules for 2018

E 1/32 Nationals

E1 Area Nats Qualifying Places
The current allocation of Nats places is based on the number of area members in each driver grade.  Two alternatives have been proposed. Areas have already been asked to complete their 2018 area rounds by Sunday 11 February 2018 so as to allow competitors more time to make arrangements before the Nats.
Option 1 - Open Entry
The 1/32nd Nationals be made open to all BSCRA registered British members. In the event of an unmanageable entry size the council may use its discretion to restrict numbers by use of the ranking list or similar means of identifying the most deserving entries on merit.
Handbook amendment
Section 2.5 Allocation of National Qualifiers to be deleted

Option 2 - Places based on  numbers at Area Meetings

That the place allocation system be changed for the 1/32nd Nationals (Saloon, F1 & Sports). Instead of allocation of places being based on total of members (except reigning champions & BOC qualifiers) it is calculated from the number of members who have competed in at least 1 of the race meetings used to select qualifiers for the Nationals by the second Sunday in February.

Explanation - this allocates Nats places in proportion to the number of drivers attempting to qualify for the Nats.    The existing system allocates places in proportion to the number of members whether or not they are active racers - that can give extra places to areas with members who are not active racers.

Handbook amendment

Section 2.5 Allocation of National Qualifiers section c
"13 places in each class shall be allocated in as near as possible direct proportion to the Area's membership ........... The remaining places shall be allocated in proportion to the Area's membership eligible for the Main Grade (including master grade drivers) who have not qualified in (a) or (b) above.."
 To be replaced by

"The remaining places shall be allocated  in proportion to the number of BSCRA members registered in the area who have competed in at least one of the area's qualifying meetings for the current years Nationals by the second Sunday in February.

and not qualified in (a) or (b) above. "

Update to the responsibilities of Area Coordinators

The Area Coodinator is responsible for promptly reporting to the BSCRA Secretary and Competition Secretary the names of members who have competed in each of their  qualifying meetings for the 1/32 Nationals.

E2 Nats to revert to non-segmented format

The 1/32 F1 and Saloon classes at the Nationals shall be run  to the previous format instead of the segmented  introduced in 2015.

See Appendix  below for details of the previous format

E3 INTRO 32 to be run on main Nats weekend
The INTRO 32 championship to be run on the same weekend as the 1/32nd Nationals
NOTE - this is only possible if  the time taken on the open classes is reduced.  Therefore, this proposal will be withdrawn if  Proposal E2 above fails.
